taking our theology back from ideas and systems that oppress.

Doing Better, Together.

Reclaiming My theology started as a limited-run 10 episode project.

After nearly a decade of exploring, unlearning, and reimagining faith outside of systemic oppression, Brandi set out to record a snapshot of her journey for her friends. But, it quickly became clear that there were many, many others seeking to not only do better, but who desired kinship in their unlearning, exploration, and rebuilding. The podcast has become a tool and library for those seeking to have rebuilding their faith shift from theoretical and unclear into the practical and tangible.

Now, nearly 100 episodes later, Reclaiming My Theology has grown into a passionate community of people seeking justice, humanness, and wholeness while following Creator. The online and in-person community has created a safe space to ask questions and grow.

Each season tackles a form of oppression and how it plays out in the Western church. Our mission is to take our theology back from systems and ideas that oppress. To reclaim what has been morphed and twisted by injustice, and learn more about the way of Jesus. We desire to offer clarifying language to common experiences and to ask “are there better ways?”

Each episode we discuss what we’ve all too often been taught to not talk about, believing that in doing so, we could all be more free. It is truly an honor to do this work alongside so many. Our hope is that we continue to grow into a network and community of people that can hold hope for freedom and justice for one another.

Honestly, it's what we think Jesus did and would do.

Meet the Team

  • Host and Founder (She/Her)

Based in Seattle, Brandi is the Chief Storyteller and Director of Spiritual Formation at Quest Church. For the last 10 years she has been a writer, speaker, and now podcaster, doing work at the intersection of faith, justice, and politics. Her passions outside of work include competitive weightlifting, trash reality tv, nerdy games of all kinds, and exploring all things food and drink. Her favorite dessert is pie (but like…mostly berry…because it’s the the best).

  • Behind the Scenes (She/Her)

Annie oversees the design, social media presence, and administrative side of Reclaiming My Theology. In Brandi’s words she “does everything Brandi doesn’t like doing”. She has been in community focused careers for over a decade, and is especially passionate about the role of community in childhood. Outside of this work, her interests can basically be boiled down to eating good food and making art. Her idea of the perfect dessert is a melty s’more alongside a campfire.

Listen in

There are so many things to reclaim our theology from: white supremacy, patriarchy and misogyny, purity culture, Christian nationalism, capitalism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism- the list goes on.

In each season of Reclaiming My Theology, we dive deep into one of these topics. Every other week, Brandi and a guest sit down and try to make sense of how we got to where we are, and how to begin untangling the mess.

Come with us on this journey of reclaiming our theology together.
